Maglev and I-70
by Brian @ January 5th, 2008 06:44:41 AM

Can you imagine a train carrying skiers, sight-seers, snowboarders, hikers, business people, bikers, workers, etc. flying from Denver International Airport to Union Station (downtown Denver) to Floyd Hill to Summit County and on to Vail at a speed of 100-300 MPH? All while floating an inch off of a track? While traveling on a track thirty feet in the air? MAGNETIC LEVITATION TRAIN TECHNOLOGY is the answer. The Colorado Department of Transportation did an extensive study called the Colorado Maglev Project in 2004 on the viability of just such an idea being constructed all of the way up the I-70 corridor. [I have included the Executive Summary in the "Articles" section of our Community page.] This project would dramatically effect I-70 traffic for the better, decrease travel time from Denver to Summit County or Vail from 1-2 hours to 20 minutes, be green, and would not further expand I-70's deleterious footprint in Colorado. So who's not sold? CDOT apparently. Their interest seems to lie in building more lanes not trains. The only problem with lanes is that examples of additional lanes being filled as soon as they're built are all over the country. Additional lanes would also increase I-70's footprint, create more air pollution, and ultimately not solve the problems currently faced by travelers and planners alike. I would guess that people would travel to Colorado just to ride on our amazing maglev train. Outside of Disney World in Florida there is nothing like this proposed project. What an amazing feature it would be in a state filled with reasons to visit already. The Colorado business community needs to get behind this as do the people of Colorado. Please check out the Executive Summary in the Articles section for more information on the proposed train. Apex would love to accommodate the added renters and tourists coming to the mountains because of this train. If you are interested in renting your property or you just need help managing a vacation home please contact Apex Property Management. Rentals in Summit County are our specialty. Our services cover most anything a property owner may need.
