Two more courses under my belt in Summit County and I like them both for very different reasons. Keystone Resorts River Course: The first hole starts off in extreme measure. Standing 150 yards above the fairway on the opening par 5 you feel almost like you could reach the hole with your drive. It is by far the highest tee to fairway drop that I have ever seen. I hit a beauty down the right hand side and it bounced off the cart path which pushed my ball to approximately 385 yards off of the tee!!! Thin air, huge drop, and a little cart path love equal extra distance. The course just kept offering dramatic hole after dramatic hole. An excellent layout through pine forest and river that rivals the best I have played on. You have to visit the River Course at Keystone. Copper Creek at Copper Mountain: At just under 6000 yards this course was super short. It may be the shortest I have ever played. Its slope rating is very low as well. In other words it's an easy course. But easy, in this case, does not mean boring. With so many chances to drive par 4s with tee shots flying over trees to partially exposed or completely hidden greens and lots of water features with small compact greens to hit in to this course offers plenty of adrenaline rushes. Birdie opportunities abound but, if that tee ball is off-line you are in for a long hole. The whole course is tight with plenty of hazard and challenging pin placements. The staff and superintendent have made sure that although you are playing a short course you will not walk away without a challenge. I would go back and play Copper Creek in a heart beat because it is a great risk reward course with lots of opportunities to feel like Tiger or the amateur lover of a pain addled sport that we all are. So, two more courses in the bag and more to come. Please join us up in Summit County for some excellent golf opportunities.
